Corel PhotoCD(pcd) Format Information

I.
Why We Convert The Kodak PhotoCD (PCD) Photos On The Corel CD-ROM?

1.
Each Corel CD-ROM includes 100 Royalty-Free, High-Resolution Stock Photos in the Kodak PhotoCD Format (PCD Format).

2.
The PCD format is not widely supported by graphic software applications therefore the photos may need to be converted to other format(s) to be compatible with our customers' graphics software applications.

3.
As a courtesy to our customers, we convert the 100 Photographs on the Corel CD-ROMs that they purchase from the Kodak PhotoCD (PCD) format to the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPG) format and the Tagged Image File Format (TIF) and ship the 200 converted files on DVD-ROM along with their original Corel CD-ROMs. Each Corel CD-ROM purchased is shipped with a DVD-ROM containing the converted files.

4.
In accordance with copyright laws we only ship the companion DVD-ROM of converted files with an original Corel CD-ROM.

About Our Free Companion DVD-ROM of JPG & TIF Files

1.
Due to the large file sizes of the converted JPG and TIF Photos, we save them on a DVD-ROM instead of a CD-ROM. A CD-ROM would not have sufficient memory to save all of the files.

2.
Our Companion DVD-ROMs are compatible with computers running the Windows® and Macintosh® computer operating systems with a disc drive capable of reading DVD-ROMs in the DVD-R format. We have found that most DVD Drives are compatible with DVD-ROMs in the DVD-R format. Please consult your computer's documentation regarding its ability to read DVD-ROMs in the DVD-R format to ensure compatibility. A software application (i.e. Windows Explorer) would be needed to view the contents of the DVD-ROM once it is placed into the drive. No other hardware or software is required to access the image files on the DVD-ROM. A basic image editing software application that supports JPG and TIF image files (i.e. Windows Paint) can be used to open the images and perform simple edits. A more robust graphics software application that supports JPG and TIF image files would be needed to perform more complicated edits.

Install & Use the Kodak Software: PhotoCD Lab

PhotoCD Lab is one of the software programs on the Corel CD-ROM. It was published on the CD-ROM in the 1990's and may not be compatible with modern versions of the Windows operating system. Using a PC with the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 operating system, we successfully installed PhotoCD Lab and we were able to open, view and convert the Corel Photos to other image formats.
